Frequently Asked Questions
The Koch Method is a scientifically proven approach to learning Morse code, developed by German psychologist Ludwig Koch. Instead of starting with slow code and speeding up (which builds bad habits), it starts at full speed with just two characters. Once you can copy those at 90% accuracy, a new character is added. Your brain learns to hear Morse as sounds rather than counting dots and dashes — the way real operators do it.
Start at Zone 1, Level 1 — that's exactly what it's designed for. The game introduces characters gradually using the Koch Method. You'll start with just two characters and add more as you prove mastery. No prior Morse code experience needed. Don't worry about memorizing dots and dashes — just listen and respond.
Little Kid Mode is a play mode where every input registers as correct. Kids get the full visual and audio experience — lights, explosions, the works — without any frustration from wrong answers. It's designed for parents and grandparents to share the game with young kids who aren't ready for the real challenge yet. Great for building early familiarity with Morse sounds.
Power-ups unlock through combo streaks during gameplay. Hit an 8x combo for Slow Field (slows all enemies), 12x for EMP Blast (stuns all enemies), 15x for Repair Kit (restores base health), and 23x for the Nuke (clears the entire screen). They're designed as rewards for sustained accuracy under pressure — not a crutch for struggling through levels.
Because slow Morse code teaches you the wrong skill. When you learn at reduced speed, you learn to count individual dits and dahs rather than recognizing character sounds instantly. The Koch Method — and experienced CW operators — have known for decades that full-speed training from day one is how you build real, fluent copy ability. Morse Command is built around this principle.
Email us at support@morsecommand.com with a description of what happened, your device model, and iOS version. Screenshots or screen recordings help a lot. We're actively improving the app and all bug reports are addressed — usually within one update cycle.
Morse code is no longer required for any US amateur radio license (it was removed from requirements in 2007). But plenty of ham operators still use CW — it's efficient, reliable, and a point of pride in the hobby. Morse Command builds genuine CW copy ability using the same method recommended by experienced operators. If you want to get on the air with CW, this is a solid training platform.
Morse Command is currently available on TestFlight for free during the beta period. Pricing for the App Store release will be announced closer to launch. Follow us or check back at this site for updates.
